Sheriff History

It has been said that it takes people with unique qualities to effectively deal with the complex situations that citizens can bring to bear on one another. Through the years the Tillamook County Sheriff's Office has been fortunate to have a working relationship with many of these special people, both as paid professionals and as volunteers.

The Tillamook County Sheriff's Office was born during a period of time in history when all of 21 voting citizens would cast their ballots to elect a new Sheriff.  It was a time when the names Trask, Vaughn, Quick, Dougherty, and Champion were known by everyone.

Many things have changed over the years but the Sheriff's Office has strength in the knowledge, that responsible law enforcement, for the sake of all people, is as important today as it was in 1854.
