Minimum Standards

  1. U.S. Citizen
  2. At least 21 years of age
  3. Ability to read, speak and write both English and Spanish is preferred
  4. No convictions by any State or Federal government of a crime punishable by imprisonment in State or Federal prison
  5. Good moral character as determined through background investigation
  6. Pass a physical and psychological examination by licensed physician
  7. High school graduate or GED certificate
  8. Driving record free of convictions for hazardous moving violations within the previous three years
  9. Possession of a valid Oregon driver's license at the time of appointment
  10. Pass the POST (Police Officer Selection Test), the Standard & Associates version
  11. Pass the ORPAT (Oregon Physical Ability Test)
  12. Within eighteen (18) months of employment, must possess a basic police certification from the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST).

Please follow all steps. Failure to follow these steps will make you ineligible to move forward in the recruitment process.

I.  Log onto www.co.tillamook.or.us --> Jobs & HR --> Job Opportunities --> View Current Jobs --> Select the job you are interested in and follow the prompts to complete your application.  Submit testing as outlined below:

Submit proof of successfully completing the Police Officer Selection Test (POST) and the Oregon Physical Abilities Test (ORPAT).

 POST (Choose ONE of the following 3 methods):

Submit your passing POST 70% or higher (Stanard & Associates Version) on Agency letterhead,  OR;

If you can provide proof of a Bachelor's degree, you may waive the POST,  OR;

Submit your passing FrontLine National Exam VIDEO through National Testing Network (NTN). If you have not taken the test log onto www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, select Law Enforcement and sign up for Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office.

     2.  ORPAT - Within the last 12 months (Choose ONE of the following 2 methods):

Submit your passing ORPAT scores (6:30 minutes or less) via another agency,  OR;

Submit your passing FrontLine National Exam VIDEO through National Testing Network (NTN).  If you have not taken the test, log onto www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, select Law Enforcement and sign up for Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office and register for the ORPAT separately.

II.  Register for testing with National Testing Network (NTN) at www.nationaltestingnetwork.com.

POST/NTN Video Test:

Select the header Find Jobs –> Click on Law Enforcement Jobs –> under Filter Your Results on the left, select State: Oregon –> Click Update –> Scroll down and select Tillamook County (if interested in Criminal, Corrections, and/or Parole & Probation Deputy positions, select all three.) –> Click Continue to complete the registration process.

ORPAT - Oregon Physical Abilities Test: Schedule through National Testing Network at  www.nationaltestingnetwork.com.

Select the header Exams –> click Learn More about ORPAT –> click Schedule an ORPAT –> Select the Brooks Location –> click Continue -> Pick a date and time -> I Understand –> then Register for a New Account. If you already have an account with NTN, sign in and follow the same directions.

If you are selected, Tillamook County will contact you via email with information regarding the next step in the recruitment process.
